This is a mini version of the Ginkou purse, with five separated areas in one side, including one zippered pocket. On the other side are two card slots and one pocket behind the panel of slots. You can squeeze a small phone (iPhone 4!) into this purse.
A harmonious blend of emblems: a multitude of ‘sensu’ fans containing ‘kiri’, ‘kikkuo’ and ‘kiku’ with ‘ume’ blossoms and ‘momiji’, maple leaves.
Other motifs include ‘matsu’, the pine, a hardy plant that symbolises strength and long life, ‘ryuusu’ wandering stream, ‘kasumi’ clouds meaning high status, repeating ‘seigaiha’ pattern, called ‘blue waves’. The mythological bird, the ‘Houou’ also features.
This vintage kimono was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 30 years old.
