A harmonious blend of emblems: a multitude of ‘sensu’ fans containing ‘kiri’, ‘kikkuo’ and ‘kiku’ with ‘ume’ blossoms and ‘momiji’, maple leaves. Other motifs include ‘matsu’, the pine, a hardy plant that symbolises strength and long life, ‘ryuusu’ wandering stream, repeating ‘seigaiha’ pattern, called ‘blue waves’.
The pattern is printed on a rinzu silk kimono: a kind of damask silk which has motifs woven into it’s surface, for extra lustre and texture.
This vintage kimono was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 30 years old.
