Our casual, swing clutch, with adjustable leather strap and leather tassel. One side is black leather, and other is vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
Recrafted from a Fukuro Obi, the sash worn over the kimono at formal occasions. This silk kimono is decorated with a pattern of Kiku and Sensu.
Kiku, the chrysanthemum, is the flower of the Imperial House and and often used icon of Japan itself (it features on Japanese passports). Sensu are the fans used in traditional dance performances, and are a symbol of prosperity as they grow in size when opened up.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 30 years old, and in excellent condition.
