Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
A beautiful ‘choucho’ flies across this obi - the butterfly is said to represent the souls of loved ones whom are lost or far away.
This obi is heavily embroidered with shades of orange, green and gold: it is Nishijin style of weave, a technique developed in an area of Kyoto around 1000 years ago.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 30 -40 years old, and in excellent condition.
Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
