Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
A delightful display of gold and subtle metallic pale turquoise peacock tail feathers adorn this obi. Kujaku, the peacock is an emblem of love, compassion, nurturing and kind heartedness in Japan.
They sit on the Sensu, the fans used in traditional dance performances, which represent prosperity as they grow as the fan is unfurled. Within some of the Sensu are Kasumi, clouds, which represent high status.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 20 to 30 years old, and in excellent condition.
