Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.
A charming arrangement of bold ‘botan’: peonies are known as the King of Flowers in Japan, where they represent longevity and steadfastness.
Woven with white, pink and cerise and silver threads, on a bright cerise silk background.
It is made from a mixture of weave effects, the floral areas are woven tightly, and the leaves have a looser zig zag weave effect - note that this is easier to catch and possibly snag on jewellery.
This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan. It is approximately 30 years old, and in excellent condition.
Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.
Dimensions: 30.5cm x 22cm
